recruiter

Contributor(s): Emma Snider

A recruiter is someone who is responsible for finding job candidates, managing candidate communications and facilitating the hiring process.

The role of the recruiter has changed significantly with the emergence of social media. Today, many recruiting software applications include social sourcing components and recruiters  focus much of their time on social sourcing, identifying potential job candidates through social media websites such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Recruiters can either work in-house -- filling positions for a given company -- or at an agency, finding talent for a range of clients.
