social recruiting

Social recruiting is a method of talent acquisition where recruiters source job candidates and/or publicize open positions via social media.

Social recruiting is an approach to acquiring talent in which recruiters look for job candidates and/or publicize open positions on social media websites.

While Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter are the most commonly used social media sites for the task, other online social spaces are gaining traction -- including YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram -- according to Jobvite's 2013 Social Recruiting Survey.

According to experts, recruiters shouldn't approach social recruiting like a job board, using social media just to share job listings. Instead, talent acquisition professionals should  interact with the site's audience to cultivate leads and create a talent community. Some recruiting software applications have built-in social recruiting capabilities to help recruiters post on multiple social sites simultaneously and monitor the effectiveness of their interactions.
